How to Change/Translate Main Language Texts
If you notice that the left column in Settings > Translations section of the app is disabled and you need to change those labels, this guide will help you update them in the correct locations.
Overview
The main language texts in Super Simple Subscriptions are configured in various places throughout the app. While translations for additional languages can be managed in the Translations section, the primary language labels need to be updated at their source.
Where to Update Main Language Texts
1. Subscription Plans
The subscription plan names and descriptions are managed directly in the Plans page.
Steps to update:
- Navigate to the Plans page in the app
- Select the plan you want to modify
- Update the Name field for the plan title
- For each subscription option within the plan:
- Click on the subscription option
- Update the Name field
- Update the Description field
2. Widget Labels
Widget text labels can be customized through the Widget customization interface.
Steps to update:
- Go to the Widget page
- Click Customize
- Click the Labels button (located on the left, above the widget settings)
- Update all the text fields as needed
3. Customer Portal
The process differs depending on which portal type you're using:
Customer Accounts Portal
- Translations are handled automatically
- No manual configuration needed
Legacy Portal
Steps to update:
- Navigate to Customer Portal > Customize
- Click the Labels button (located on the left, above the widget settings)
- Update all the text fields as needed
4. Email Notifications
Email notifications have two components that need to be configured separately.
Important: A verified email address is required to edit notification templates.
A. Common Email Template Labels
These are shared labels used across multiple email templates.
Steps to update:
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications
- Click the Customize email templates button (top right corner)
- Update all common labels as needed
B. Individual Email Templates
Each notification has its own specific content that needs to be configured.
Steps to update:
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications
- Select each notification individually
- Edit the following fields for each notification:
- Subject - The email subject line
- Main text - The primary content of the email
Important Notes
- After updating these fields, you'll see the texts in the disabled language column of the Translation page update automatically
- Make sure to save your changes after each update
- For email notifications, ensure you have a verified email address before attempting to edit templates
- Changes to main language texts will not affect existing translations for other languages
Troubleshooting
If changes don't appear immediately:
- Refresh the app
- Check that all changes were properly saved
- For widget and portal changes, ensure they are published/activated
