My subscription free shipping discount is not working
Have you have set up a free shipping discount for your subscriptions but something is not working? This guide will walk you through identifying and resolving the most common issues with this discount.
- In the discount settings, ensure that the Purchase type is set to Subscription

- Ensure you have selected the subscription version of the product in the checkout
Your free shipping discount has most likely been configure to apply only for subscription purchases. To confirm the checkout recognises the subscription, check the following signs:
- The subscription plan name appears under the product title.
- The Recurring subtotal texts should appear beneath the order total.

- Verify that the order meets the minimum purchase amount or quantity for the discount
Shopify requires automatic free shipping discounts to include a Minimum purchase requirement. If the items in the checkout do not satisfy this minimum, the discount will not be applied. Below you will find an example order that satisfies these requirements:
Example order
- The discount Minimum purchase amount is set to £9.99
- The product in the checkout costs 16.99
As you can see in the screenshots below, the free shipping discount is successfully applied for this product.


- When using multiple discounts at the same time, ensure they are set to combine
In the example below, the following 2 discounts are applied to the checkout:
- An amounts off product discount code named
TEA - A free shipping discount for subscriptions named
FREE SUBSCRIPTION SHIPPING

In order for this to work, both discounts must be set to combine with each other in their settings:
Tea: In the Combinations box, Shipping discounts is checked.

FREE SUBSCRIPTION SHIPPING: In the Combinations box, Product discounts is checked.
