The customer journey
Picture a shopper exploring your store. They notice a subscription bar in the widget on the product page and pick the schedule that suits them best. After checkout, our app creates a subscription contract that confirms when they'll be billed and what they'll receive. A confirmation email leads them to the customer portal, where they can return anytime to update quantities, swap products, or add something new. This smooth path from widget to portal is the heart of the subscription experience.
Subscription offers
An offer defines which products can be purchased on a recurring basis and under what terms. Each offer can include one or more subscription bars such as weekly or monthly deliveries, discounts, and prepaid schedules. Customers see the name of your offer and choose a subscription bar during checkout. You can create your own offer with subscription bars from Super Subscriptions > Offers.
The subscription storefront widget
The product page widget displays your offers on product pages so shoppers can easily start a subscription. Customers pick their preferred bar, see any discounts, and add the subscription to their cart. The widget adapts to your theme and can be customized from Super Subscriptions > Design.
Subscription contracts
After a customer checks out with a subscription bar, a subscription contract is created. The contract records the exact terms the customer purchased: billing schedule, products, discounts, and upcoming renewals. Any future changes you make to the offer won't affect existing contracts. You can view and modify contracts from Super Subscriptions > Subscriptions.
Bundles
Alongside subscriptions, the app lets you sell bundles: quantity breaks, Buy X Get Y deals, fixed sets, and build-a-box. Bundles are built from the same Offers page, as bundle bars inside an offer, and they can be bought one-time or on subscription. See Bundle types to get started.
Managing subscriptions
Customers can manage their own subscriptions through the customer portal, where they can skip, pause, or cancel deliveries. Merchants can also update contracts directly in the admin to change products, shipping details, or renewal dates. You can view and customize your customer portal from Super Subscriptions > Settings > Customer portal.
What it costs
Super Subscriptions is free, with unlimited subscriptions and no transaction fees or revenue share. For the current plan details, always check the pricing page: . If paid plans are introduced in the future they will be announced well in advance, and early merchants will be looked after.
Limitations
To use the Super Subscriptions app, your store must use one of the following payment gateways:
- Shopify Payments (including Shop Pay)
- PayPal Express
- Authorize.net
- Adyen
- Stripe
This is a Shopify platform requirement rather than an app limitation. See Which payment gateways work with subscriptions for the full picture.
